Author
Nachhatar Nachhatar is a renowned fiction writer of Punjabi language who is known for writing about the rural distress and disparities in Punjab. A retired Banker from Barnala in Punjab, Nachhatar is now settled in Delhi. He has already published six collections of short stories and an equal number of novels besides miscellaneous writings. His Novel ‘Slow Down’ won the Sahitya Akademi Award that was based on the global financial disaster of 2008 and its fallout in India. Nachhatar is one of the few authors in Punjabi who have crossed the lines and dared not to stick with socio-cultural and kinship rigmarole spawning in his short stories and novels. He has also distanced himself from the authors who are repeatedly chewing the same cud in different jargon. He use to respond to the sensitive issues concerning the society, which are generally ignored by the creative world of Punjabi literature or are not yet responded by them with equal concern.
