PET: An Autobiography
₹600 M.R.P ₹695

The present autobiography of a pet is a bold, unique and offbeat attempt by the author and a special addition to the field of Indian literature. The portrayal of shared moments of over a decade between the author along with her family and her pet, who is no more, is straight from a pet’s mouth. The book is an honest depiction of human-animal bonding, a perfect metaphor for unconditional love. The autobiography, on the canvas of a wide spectrum of emotions, is going to fascinate readers across age groups. A glimpse of such an untold life story containing fabulous trivia and humorous anecdotes would find children wallowing in fun. A pet’s perception of human behaviour dripped with sarcasm is quite captivating. It is a great comfort to pet lovers who can understand the true meaning of bonding with a pet and the agony of its loss. The focus on the challenges of pet parenting and behaviour modification techniques highlighted in the book may help smoothen and accelerate the process of pet adoption. The issues raised in the book from a rights-based perspective are definitely going to ignite the sensitive souls and minds of the legal fraternity, policymakers and caregivers. As a psychologist and victim of a loss, the author has attempted to decode ‘grief’ and how to deal with it. Her resilience strategy to cope with the impending gloom, on the basis of her own experience, would offer a helping hand to the victims of loss. Focus on healthy grieving is the bottom line of the book. The prime highlights of the book, i.e., attitudes of people towards animals, their discriminatory approach, widespread cruelty towards the voiceless souls, the systemic inertia concerning the demands of veterinary care and facilities and animal rights along with numerous facts and figures surrounding the canine world are a feast for the readers.
